Define what happens before “send”

An AI employee’s job description should include its limits.

By Kyle Perks · Updated September 4, 2026

A draft is a different action from sending

An assistant can produce an excellent message while still needing you to confirm the recipient, facts, and commitments. Treat drafting and sending as separate steps with an explicit handoff.

Describe permissions in plain English

Write down what the role may read, what it may prepare, and what requires approval. “Prepare a follow-up draft from this approved brief” is clearer than “manage my relationships.”

Make the review easy

Show the proposed action alongside the relevant context. The reviewer should be able to tell who is affected, what will happen, and whether anything is missing before approving it.

Keep changes visible

New integrations and broader responsibilities deserve another look at the boundaries. A successful writing pilot does not automatically authorize inbox monitoring or CRM changes. Add those capabilities through an agreed workflow.
